Pastor's Welcome Message
Dear Friends,
Welcome to St. James parish. We are delighted to have you reach us and hope that
we can be of service to you.
Our parish is now fifty years old, although there was a little mission church as
early as 1888. We have about 3500 families in the parish and a wide range of
activities.
The parish is built on a sacramental model of the church. Everything begins and
ends with the eucharist and the other sacraments. Our life-blood is here. The
church was originally built as an auditorium for a school, which was never
built. In 1990 we remodeled the church to bring it into conformity with the
principles of the Vatican Council II. The community is now much closer to the
altar. The windows show the phases of the liturgical year which surround us.
There is also a conscious effort that the community is involved and not just a
group of people watching what goes on at the altar. We try very hard to make our
Liturgies life-giving. If this succeeds, everything else follows and we become
true stewards of God's creation.
And so I say again -- Welcome. If you have further questions or would like to
join the parish, please call the office.
-Fr.Robert Smith , Pastor
